Cinema Under the Stars: Selected by Sofia Short Fest 2025
June 11, 2026, 9:00 PM
Art Gallery – Ruse
Art Gallery – Ruse presents a special selection of short films, curated in partnership with Sofia Short Fest 2025 and the Kinematograf platform.
The programme brings together a wide range of cinematic languages and themes – from intimate documentary storytelling to animation and socially engaged cinema. Among the highlights is the documentary The Path of the Stone (2025) by Eliza Kesedzhiyan and Yulia Grozdanova, which follows the life and creative process of sculptor Ognyan Chitakov (Ognen Chitak). The film reveals his deep connection to stone as both material and philosophy – a living matter carrying its own energy and memory.
Also included in the programme:
– Comprehensive Study (2025) by Vladislav Ivanov – an absurdist animation based on a text by Daniil Kharms
– Sparks (2024) – a poetic story about love, loss, and new beginnings
– Lonely Applause (2023) – on the fragile line between recognition and ego
– Eva (2025) – a powerful moral story about choice and parenthood
– Next to You (2024) – an emotional journey toward confessing love
– Scarlet (2024) – a social drama about childhood and the system
– Comma (2023) – about the conflict between author and interpretation
– The Dream of the Running Man (2023) – a visual metaphor for fear, memory, and the pursuit of peace
The selection offers an encounter with contemporary Bulgarian cinema and its diverse voices – sensitive, critical, poetic, and provocative.
The event is part of the Contemporary Art Festival – Ruse 2026, funded by the National Culture Fund.
Free admission.
