Panorama. Screenings and Talk. Guest: Nevena Semova

May 29, 2026, 6:00 PM

Ruse Art Gallery

On May 29 at 6:00 PM, the event “Panorama. Screenings and Talk” will take place at the Ruse Art Gallery, featuring guest Nevena Semova — a selection of short films followed by a discussion with the audience.

The event presents four films operating across different directions of contemporary cinema — between social drama, personal loss, political tension, and documentary observation. The panorama includes productions in which Nevena Semova participates as a director or producer, tracing various modes of storytelling developed within the independent film scene.

Program:

“Raspberry Sorbet” (2025)
Director: Biser Dzhonev
Producer: Nevena Semova

A story about an isolated teenager who, after the death of his sister in the 2015 Paris attacks, plans an act of revenge in his hometown in Bulgaria.

“A Jar of Time” (2025)
Director: Nevena Semova

A documentary about Ayshe and Dzhemal — among the last nomadic Pomaks in Bulgaria — who strive to preserve their freedom and way of life despite economic pressure and changing regulations.

“1000” (2023)
Director: Nevena Semova

A dark comedy about an ambitious cemetery manager obsessed with reaching her “thousandth” deceased.

“The Strangers” (2023)
Director: Lauri Elstela
Producer: Nevena Semova

A film about family loss, memory, and secrets revealed within the space of an inherited home.

After the screenings, the audience will have the opportunity to join a discussion on independent cinema, producing practices, and the development of the contemporary film environment.

The panorama is realized in partnership with Kinematograf.bg and is part of the program of the Contemporary Art Festival 2026.

The event is supported by the National Culture Fund.
