Open Call: Contemporary Art Exhibition-Competition 2026

Ruse Art Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming edition of its traditional contemporary art exhibition-competition, held within the framework of the International Festival “March Music Days”. The event is organized by Ruse Municipality, the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA), and Ruse Art Gallery.

This year’s theme — DISSONANCES — invites artists to explore ideas of tension, conflict, fragmentation, broken harmony, and the clash of concepts or emotional states. The theme is open to broad conceptual and visual interpretations, encouraging artistic responses that reflect on the contemporary individual and their environment.

Eligibility

Participation is open exclusively to professional Bulgarian artists who accept the terms and conditions specified in the official regulations of the competition.

24 February 2026
Artworks must be delivered or shipped to:

Awards

Prizes will be awarded by:
• Ruse Municipality – March Music Days Festival
• Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA)
• Ruse Art Gallery

Awarded artists will receive an honorary diploma, and the selected artworks will enter the permanent collection of Ruse Art Gallery.

Exhibition Opening

The official opening and announcement of the award winners will take place on:
14 March 2026, 18:00
at Ruse Art Gallery.
