“Rescue Restoration” – Restored Masterpieces from the Collection of the Rousse Art Gallery
1 – 31 December 2025
The Ruse Art Gallery presents an exceptional exhibition, the result of the project “Rescue Restoration of Movable Cultural Assets from the Collection of the Ruse Art Gallery”, implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
Launched at the end of 2024, the initiative aimed not only to restore works in critical condition but also to ensure their long-term preservation and broader accessibility to the public. For the first time, the results of the meticulous work of restorer Silvia Varadinova-Papadaki are now visible to a wide audience.
The exhibition features 16 works from the gallery’s collection, including pieces by renowned artists such as Svetlin Rusev, Toma Trifonovski, and Boris Vasilev. Each painting reveals not only its artistic value but also the story of its restoration – the journey from damage to the brilliance of its original colors and details.
The restoration presented in the exhibition allows the artworks to speak again and tell their story, returning to the public the richness of Ruse’s cultural heritage.
