EXHIBITION-COMPETITION “…YOUNG BULGARIAN PAINTING” 2025

September 2 – October 2, 2025

Opening: September 2, 2025, 6:00 PM

This fall, the Art Gallery – Ruse presents the first edition of the exhibition-competition “…Young Bulgarian Painting” – a forum that is a kind of counterpoint to digital trends in visual art and strives to show the power and vitality of classical painting techniques.

The initiative is the work of Ruse artists Daniel Dyankov and Stoimir Ivanov, implemented in partnership with the Art Gallery – Ruse and the Union of Bulgarian Artists. The forum brings together 32 young authors up to 35 years of age, who demonstrate what they can express with a brush, paints and canvas – without computers, without artificial intelligence and digital tools.

The exhibition shows a variety of techniques – oil painting, watercolor, acrylic, tempera – and stylistic directions: from figurative compositions to abstract solutions. Thus, the audience will see the latest searches of a generation that remains true to the classical artistic foundations.

The ambition of the organizers is for the event to grow into a kind of biennial for young Bulgarian painting, which will provide a sustainable stage for the development and recognition of the authors who have chosen the path of tradition in contemporary art.
