“The Cinema That Refuses to Be Silent” – screening by Kinematograf
On July 16th at 9:00 PM, in the garden next to the gallery, we will once again watch great stories in short films. The Kinematograf platform will present us with an uncompromising, socially engaged and courageous selection – “The Cinema That Refuses to Be Silent”. Admission is free, but the program is not suitable for children.
A highlight in the palette of films is “The Man Who Could No Longer Be Silent”, a co-production between Croatia, France, Bulgaria and Slovenia. On the Bulgarian side, the producer is Katya Trichkova, and the film is a total favorite of the world’s largest film festivals, winner of the French César Award and the European Award for Best Short Film. The context is about the war, but the main story is about the dignity of one person who stands up to a deeply unjust situation. 14 minutes that will take us back to the distant 1993. and the universal questions about injustice, loyalty to values and the moral compass of each of us.
The explosively provocative combination also includes titles by big world names from Kosovo, Croatia, Ukraine, Norway and Canada. They will remind us how relevant short films can be, especially in difficult times, when our society is faced with questions and challenges that herald changes. And it depends on us in what direction these changes will be, as the editors of Kinematograf share.
The event is part of the Festival of Contemporary Art, funded by the Culture Program of the Municipality of Ruse.
