Opening: July 4, 2025, 6:00 PM

“Fate has not assigned a place like Christo’s, but together we make our culture…”

Nikolay Nedelchev – Kokla

(Chairman of the Pleven Representative Office of the Bulgarian Union of Artists and the Society of Pleven Artists)

On July 4, 2025, at 6:00 PM, the “Pleven Artists” exhibition will be opened at the Art Gallery – Ruse. This is an ambitious and representative exhibition that brings together the work of 55 world-class authors from Pleven and the region. The exhibition includes painting, graphics and sculpture, presented in different styles, themes and artistic generations.

The event is jointly organized by the Municipality of Pleven, the Municipality of Ruse, the Art Gallery – Ruse, the Representation of the Union of Bulgarian Artists – Pleven and the Society of Pleven Artists. The tradition of cultural exchange between the two cities continues. In this way, access to contemporary art is used and lasting connections are built between artistic communities outside the capital.

Established names such as Nikolay Nedelchev – Kokla, Ivan Velchev – Yovo and Iliyan Angelov are expected among the participants. Along with them, we will also see authors from the younger generation. The audience will have the opportunity to get acquainted with a variety of approaches – from realistic painting to abstract expression, as well as from delicate graphics to monumental sculpture. In other words, the exhibition is a kind of map of contemporary art in Northern Bulgaria.

The exhibition will be located in one of the halls of the Art Gallery – Ruse and will remain open for visits throughout the month of July 2025. Accompanying events are also expected – meetings with authors, guided tours and discussions. More information will be shared on our Facebook page.

This exhibition is part of the cultural calendar of the city of Ruse. In addition, it is an important step in building a sustainable dialogue between the art scenes in Bulgaria. For the Ruse audience, this is a valuable opportunity to meet one of the most distinctive and consistent regional communities – the Pleven art scene.
