“I discovered the essence and value in the very process of making films, and for me it is the only valuable one. In fact, that is why I work so hard – I have already settled into this process of creation, and it is as if I live there. When you sink deep into the creative process, you see that it is the same, regardless of which industry the final result is aimed at. If I did not transfer my experience from films to games and vice versa, it would be impossible for me to cope with my diverse daily tasks. The practice in these two, at first glance incompatible directions – auteur cinema and the game industry – keeps my interest in animation alive, and my desire to develop – constantly.”
D. Dimitrov

The special evening at the Art Gallery – Ruse is dedicated to the famous Bulgarian animator Dimitar Dimitrov – Animiter. The event is part of the program of the “Contemporary Art Festival – Ruse 2025” and is realized with the financial support of the Ruse Municipality under the “Culture” Program and with the assistance of Kinematograf.
The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy a carefully selected selection of eight of his animated films, curated by the editor-in-chief of Kinematograf. The screenings will be accompanied by three discussion panels with the participation of the author himself – a rare opportunity for direct dialogue and a look behind the scenes of the creative process.
Dimitar Dimitrov is the creator of 20 short animated films, selected in over 550 international festivals and awarded with more than 70 awards. Along with his work in the film industry, he is also active in the field of game design, as well as a lecturer at ARC Academy.
The event will be hosted by Devina Vasileva.
