THE PROJECT “RUSE – PAST AND FUTURE, URBAN “DREAMS” AND “VISIONS” OF THE ART GALLERY – RUSE HAS STARTED
The project “Ruse – Past and Future, Urban “Dreams” and “Visions,” funded by the Ministry of Culture, will begin on May 10, 2025, at the Art Gallery – Ruse
The project’s objective is straightforward: to showcase Ruse as a city with a rich past and a dynamic present, a cultural and emotional space where personal and collective visions, ideas, dreams, and social realities intertwine.
The project is distinguished by its unconventional concept, which combines artistic and culturological elements in the creation of conceptual visual works. Through them, the city is explored as a phenomenon – a space in which architecture, history, culture, individualities and social interactions are intertwined.
Within the framework of the project, a creative residency will be held in Ruse with the participation of five contemporary artists from the Balkans:
Luchezar Boyadjiev and Ina Valentinova (Bulgaria)
Olivia Mihaltianu (Romania)
Fatmir Mustafa-Karllo (Kosovo)
Gjorgje Jovanovik (R. North Macedonia)
The curator of the project is Luchezar Boyadjiev, and the results of the artists’ work will be presented in an exhibition that will open on May 17, 2025, within the framework of the Night of Museums.
The project also actively involves the community of Ruse. A special workshop for children and youth under the title “I LOOK – I PHOTOGRAPH – I SEE (The Eyes of Ruse…)” will give 30 participants the opportunity to share their personal “view”, “dream” or “vision” about the city through photography and visual storytelling, led by Luchezar Boyadjiev.
Project partners are:
Regional History Museum – Ruse – participation in discussions, meetings and city tours
Arena Media – media coverage of the activities
KSUDS – Equilibrium Ruse and Mathematical High School “Baba Tonka” – Ruse – participation in workshops, presentations and exhibitions.
The project “Ruse – Past and Future, Urban “Dreams” and “Visions” aims to create a space for contemporary art, critical thinking and dialogue, in which the city of Ruse becomes a living field for interpretations, memories and visions of the future.
