Petar Popov – In the Studio

Jubilee Exhibition in Memory of the Renowned Ruse Artist

30 April – 25 May 2025

Openning: 30 April 2025, 6 pm

In 2025, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Petar Popov – “Popeto” (1925–2000), a painter, stage designer, and one of the most refined masters of painting in Ruse. To honor this milestone, the Ruse Art Gallery is organizing a special jubilee exhibition.

The exhibition features some of the artist’s most representative works, drawn from the gallery’s collection as well as his family’s private archive. His paintings – Danube landscapes, urban scenes, and abstract compositions – are imbued with quiet emotional depth, contemplative stillness, and a sense of time that exists beyond the everyday bustle.

Deeply connected to his native Ruse and known for his distinctive, inimitable style, Petar Popov is remembered by generations as an artist who captured not only the world around him, but also the inner landscape of the human soul.

With the “HBD” exhibition, the Ruse Art Gallery pays tribute to an artist who expressed himself through light, color, and silence.
