September 11, 2025, 8:30 PM

Free entry!

For five years now, Ruse has been part of the national initiative by Kinematograf, which turns short films into an open-air experience. This is an event that brings together film lovers, young people, families, and everyone seeking captivating stories told in short but powerful frames. The summer cinema is more than just a screening – it is a celebration of encounters, emotions, and shared moments.

The program of this screening once again promises an unforgettable emotional journey, gathering the best Bulgarian short films from the past three years – a selection that will make you laugh, move you to tears, and inspire reflection.

The program includes:

“The Gardener of Weeds” / dir. Asya Kovanova – a poetic and philosophical fable about friendship and the absurdities of life.
A short story about two old friends and neighbors (a gardener and a mole) who live in the wilderness, waiting for the wind that will help them fulfill an absurd whim.

“Hot Peppers” / dir. Alexander Angelov – an emotional story about two brothers.
Two brothers meet after a long time apart. The younger cannot forgive the mistakes the elder has made.

“The Premiere” / dir. Toma Waszarow – a tense tale about a director on the night of his film’s premiere.
The story takes us to the premiere of the film “Deep in the Soul”, where the director is eager to hear the audience’s and critics’ opinions, when suddenly an unexpected guest appears.

“Bonnie and Loni” / dir. Svetla Tsotsorkova – a social clash between love, poverty, and wealth in contemporary times.
Sofia, present day. The son of a wealthy family is in love with Bonnie – a teenage girl from the city’s outskirts. To test his devotion, Loni – the girl’s older sister – subjects him to a humiliating challenge. Will he succeed or fail? Even when it comes to love, the poor and the rich don’t speak the same language.

“Mona Lisa” / dir. Veselka Kuncheva – a visually and emotionally intense film about life, routine, and awakening.
A man rides a donkey down a dusty road. Behind him walks a woman, carrying a bundle of hay. The man grumbles. The woman, hidden beneath the hay, listens. Their whole lives have been spent on this path. It feels dull and dusty. Monotonous and gray. And then, the woman stops. And the man looks at her.
