Between Line and Volume: Exhibition “Drawings and Sculptures” by Georgi Radulov
November 6 -December 31, 2025
Opening: November 6, 2025, 6:00 PM
Art Gallery – Ruse presents the exhibition “Drawings and Sculptures” by sculptor Georgi Radulov – a study of the creative process, which goes beyond finished forms and presents the thought, idea and “germ” of each work.
The sketch, line and graphic are often perceived as a tool or preparation – something that remains in the shadow before the attractiveness of the finished body. But it is there, in the drawing and the primary samples, that the thought, the idea, the contour of the form lives.
The exhibition “Drawings and Sculptures” dares to bring out what usually remains hidden. It includes sketches and preliminary versions – early moments of image generation, where the artist searches, negotiates and corrects. The sculptures represent the already materialized idea, when the contour acquires volume, space and matter. Variant stages and experiments are also included – rare and often unexhibited works that reveal the path of thought, mistakes and decisions of the author.
This exhibition does not simply show works – it provokes the viewer to think about the act of creation itself, about the proportion between the internally found and the externally realized. Many visitors will discover that the already familiar sculptures bear a “tint” of the sketches – in rhythm, section, texture – and the sketches that were once considered “preparations” turn out to be independent works with their own presence.
Georgi Radulov is an artist who did not limit himself only to ready-made forms. He also practiced through graphics, drawing and expositional thinking, and his works are part of the visual and social heritage of Ruse. His long-standing participation in the public environment through monuments, urban sculptures and cultural councils emphasizes the importance of his work for the city.
The exhibition presents the “super-conceptual” stages of his work and carries historical value – it shows a way, manner and flair. “Drawings and Sculptures” is an invitation to immerse ourselves not just in the finished forms, but also in the hidden thoughts, in the sketch that autonomously attracts, and in the contours that live inside the artist before they turn into volume.
