A New Educational Program at Ruse Art Gallery
Ruse Art Gallery launches a new series of interactive workshops for children and young people, connecting art, play, and knowledge. The program transforms the observation of artworks into an active experience in which children participate, create, and learn through interactive activities.
The format is developed and implemented by Paraskevi Dimitropoulou. She works together with Rabia Gültaş, author of the program’s visual materials, and Karla Omar Suárez — all three are Erasmus+ trainees at the Gallery.
About Paraskevi Dimitropoulou
Paraskevi comes from Greece and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Anthropology and a Master’s degree in “Art, Cultural Heritage and Development Policies” from the Hellenic Open University. She is a museum educator at the Hellenic Children’s Museum in Athens and believes that art is not merely a past we preserve, but an experience we create together.
Her academic and professional path connects anthropology with cultural heritage, demonstrating how art shapes identity, memory, and community.
The Educational Program
The program includes two interactive workshops:
- “Portraits Come to Life” – for children aged 6–9
- “The Secret World of Byzantine Icons” – for age groups 10–12 and 13–17
A distinctive feature of the program is that all activities are conducted in English, allowing children to practice the language naturally through observation, role play, and creative work.
First Workshop: “Portraits Come to Life”
Date: April 18, 2026
Time: 11:00 AM
Duration: 90 minutes
Age group: 6–9 years
Maximum participants: 15
Participation fee: €3 (all materials included)
Registration: ruseartgallery39@gmail.com
During the workshop, children will observe portraits from the exhibition, discover details and emotions, step into the roles of the portrayed figures, create short stories, and take part in the practical activity “Step into the Portrait.”
The program creates a meeting point between past and imagination, between tradition and a contemporary educational approach, building a living dialogue between children and art.
