An exhibition from the Ruse gallery’s collection is visiting the city of Bar, Montenegro
The exhibition “Paintings of Bulgarian Artists of Jewish Origin from the Fund of the Art Gallery – Ruse” continues its tour in Montenegro.
After the “Kuslevova Kucha” gallery in Podgorica, on October 15 it was officially opened in the “Velimir A. Lekovic” gallery in the coastal town of Bar, where it will remain open to visitors until October 30.
The opening was attended by Ms. Zdenka Popovic, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and Chair of the Friendship Group with the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rabbi Ari Edelkopf, Chair of the Religious Jewish Community in Montenegro, Ms. Alexandra Grabezh, Director of the Cultural Center -Bar, Mr. Milun Lutovac, director of the “Velimir A. Lekovic” gallery, representatives of cultural circles, citizens and guests of Bar.
The exhibition “Paintings of Bulgarian artists of Jewish origin from the collection of the Art Gallery – Ruse” includes 24 works by the artists David Perets, Marko Behar, Anna Kramer-Behar, Eliezer Alsheh, Jacques Avdala, Petranka Katz, Andrey Daniel, Gredi Assa, Volodya Kenarev . The initiative marks 81 years since the rescue of Bulgarian Jews during the Second World War and is included in the European Days of Jewish Culture of the host country.
The presentation of the exhibition is carried out with the courtesy of H.E. Mr. Stefan Dimitrov – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria in Montenegro and is financed under the Plan-program with activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bulgarian diplomatic and consular missions abroad in the field of public, cultural and digital diplomacy and strategic communications for 2024, adopted by Decision 515/22.07.2024 of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria.
