Nikolay V. Dobrev “Ruse Impressions”

NIKOLAI DOBREV
Nikolay Dobrev unlocks the charge that each of us carries. Or not. It unleashes the play and sparkle of water, the mystery of islands, and the thrill of journeys with or without a boat. The elements, masses, and particles. Dobrev presents us with endless choices, and we must choose. The path the viewer takes here is far more complex than that of the concrete proposals of figurative painting. Here, the thought boldly expands and walks, immersing itself in the landscape's perspective, exploring the emotional nuances, and connecting with the tangible reality of the volcano and the cracked layers of the Danube banks. Nikolay Dobrev loves the Danube. It reveals the intricate patterns and textures of the surfaces, the tangible physicality of water, its layers, air, and the interplay of light and reflections. We catch a whiff of the fresh green smell of chlorophyll or fall into the complex pink optimism of the morning. Or in the vice of heavy afternoons. Dobrev's riverside walks inspired a series of profound impressions of Rousse, which he brought here. He is a relentless colorist. He knows which color he insists on, and with his technical skill and channeling of feeling, he brings us into its depth. The gaze confidently penetrates the picturesque mass, delving into the realms of thought. After teaching and printing, Dobrev threw himself into painting with unwavering dedication. We are certain this work will continue! We are pleased to announce that "Mysterious Evening," "Revolt of Red," and "Angry Blue" will remain in the collection of the Art Gallery - Rousse. They will be on view in December in the exhibition "Sculptures from the Depot Look at the New Arrivals." Nikolay Dobrev, great work!
