TENTH INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL “THE ART OF MINIATURE” RUSE

The main goal of the International Biennial “The Art of Miniature” is to promote and encourage the creation of miniature works of visual arts and photography. It is held every two years, with the first edition in 2007.

The International Biennial “The Art of Miniature” is held under the patronage of the Mayor of Ruse Municipality. Its organizers are Ruse Municipality, Art Gallery – Ruse and Union of Bulgarian Artists.

The selection of works for the exhibition and the awards are determined by a jury including representatives of Ruse Municipality, Union of Bulgarian Artists, Art Gallery – Ruse and foreign artists and art critics.

The International Biennial “The Art of Miniature” is held in the exhibition halls of the Art Gallery – Ruse in the period October – December.

The organizers publish a catalog.

The working languages ​​of the Biennial are Bulgarian and English.

The Municipality of Ruse provides a grand prize of 2000 BGN and five equivalent prizes of 1100 BGN each for the respective categories: painting; graphics; sculpture; drawing; and new media/photography. The awarded works are entered into the fund of the Art Gallery – Ruse.

A subject prize of the audience is envisaged, determined by voting in the Gallery during the opening of the exhibition, as well as prizes of cultural institutions, organizers, sponsors.

Artists from the country and abroad who accept the terms of the attached statute have the right to participate.

Artistic works in the following 5 categories can participate in the Biennial – painting; graphics; sculpture; drawing; and new media / photography that meet the following criteria: the visual area of ​​two-dimensional works should not exceed 110 sq. cm. (for example: 10×11 cm., 7×15 cm., etc.), and three-dimensional works – 12x10x10 cm. (height / width / depth) without the pedestal. All prints and casts must have a publication number.

The submitted works must be originals and be the property of the author.

Each author can participate with no more than 3 (three) works in each of the sections. The works must have been created in the last two years, not have participated and been awarded in other national and international forums.

The participation fee for authors from abroad is 20 euros (15 euros participation and 5 euros transport fee for returning works and catalog) and 30 leva for authors from Bulgaria, payable only by bank transfer.

15.09.2025 – Deadline for receiving artworks

26.09.2025 – Jury, selection of artworks for exhibition and determination of the awarded authors

10.10.2025 – Opening of the exhibition and announcement of the awarded authors

28.12.2025 – Closing of the exhibition
