Exhibition “Painting” – Grisha Kubratov
Opening: March 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM
Foyer of the Dohodno Zdanie – Ruse
On March 13, 2026 (Friday) at 6:00 PM, the foyer of the Dohodno Zdanie in Ruse will host the opening of the exhibition “Painting” by Grisha Kubratov. The event takes place on the day of the opening of the 65th edition of the March Music Days International Festival and is part of its accompanying program.
The exhibition presents works inspired by music—a consistent and enduring line in the artist’s oeuvre. In the paintings, the human figure and the instrument exist in fusion or dialogue, while the musical principle becomes a compositional axis. The forms are stylized, often hybrid—the human silhouette intertwines with a musical instrument and frees itself from literal representation, transforming into a sign of inner transformation.
The painting combines modern artistic approaches with a philosophical reflection on music as a spiritual space—a place of memory, rhythm, and inner presence.
The exhibition is dedicated to the artist’s grandfather, Yanko Dimitrov Arapchev, co-founder of the Ruse Philharmonic Orchestra in 1948. The dedication is a gesture of recognition to the man who shaped his relationship with classical music. Arapchev’s contribution is measured not only by his participation in founding the orchestra, but also by the Philharmonic’s long-term impact on the cultural identity of Ruse. He belonged to the generation of Bulgarian musicians who, after 1944, built the national network of symphony orchestras and established classical music among a wide audience. Even after retirement, he remained devoted to the cause, continuing to hand-copy the orchestra’s sheet music—dedication transformed into a personal mission.
