Ruse Art Gallery presents the jubilee exhibition of the Artists’ Association in Ruse, marking 80 years since the organization’s founding. The eclectic exhibition was officially opened by Mayor Pencho Milkov, presenting an honorary plaque to the Association’s chairman, Nikolay Kolev, along with a congratulatory letter in recognition of the cultural and spiritual contribution of its members.
“Your association is a home for generations of talented artists whose dedication and inspiration leave a lasting mark on our cultural memory,” the Mayor said during the opening. He emphasized that over the years, Ruse artists have created and established the renowned Ruse School of Painting, a phenomenon that transcends regional boundaries and holds a prominent place in Bulgarian and European art history.
Greetings were also delivered by Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov, who noted that the Association has become a space for new ideas, artistic exploration, and experimentation.
The exhibition features works by 80 artists, including both established professionals and emerging creators. Visitors can admire paintings, graphics, icons, and drawings by Nikolay Kolev, Nikolay Karadjov, Violeta Radkova, Grisha Kubratov, Manyo Manev, Virginia Pencheva, Tsonyo Tsonev, among others. Special attention is drawn to the works of young artists Plamen Monev – Junior (Norep) and Ralitsa Georgieva, as well as the portrait of the teacher of Ruse artists – Bay Kiro (Kiril Stanchev), painted by Lyubomir Nikiforov.
As noted by the Gallery Director Elsitsa Popova, the exhibition is not retrospective; it reflects the contemporary state of the Association and its members, uniting diverse styles, techniques, and artistic approaches.
The exhibition will be open to the public until 31 October 2025, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the richness and depth of Ruse’s artistic tradition.
