On September 30, in the Basement space of the Art Gallery of Ruse, the photo exhibition “New Energy” by artists Ema Yordanova and Martin Petrov was opened, created in collaboration with young artists Daria Bratoeva and Michaela Mladenova.
The exhibition presents the results of a large-scale creative intervention in Ruse’s urban environment – the transformation of electrical cabinets into vivid visual accents that change the appearance of the streets and bring new messages to the city.
What does the exhibition offer?

An engaging and unconventional display – in addition to 40 photographs documenting the entire process, the exhibition also features objects used in the painting of the cabinets, bringing the audience even closer to the artists’ work.

A conversation with the public – the authors shared how the idea was born, the challenges they encountered, and how the residents of Ruse responded. People not only welcomed the initiative with joy, but even expressed a desire to take part in the process themselves.

A presentation – the project was introduced with a rich visual narrative that further expanded on the concept and messages of “New Energy.”
Vision and Future
The idea behind “New Energy” does not end with this intervention. The authors aim to further develop the project by organizing special guided tours in the urban environment, allowing audiences to experience the interventions in their original context and learn more about the inspiration behind them.
Why “New Energy”?
The project transforms elements of infrastructure that usually remain unnoticed or perceived as unaesthetic into carriers of color and positivity. In doing so, “New Energy” lays the groundwork for a new vision of the urban environment – one that is more beautiful, inspiring, and closer to the people.
The initiative was realized with the support of the Culture Program of Ruse Municipality and ERP Sever.
The exhibition can be visited until October 30, 2025, in the Basement space of the Art Gallery of Ruse.
