With the exhibition “Painting”, Georgi (Gosho) Georgiev marks 30 years since his appearance on the art scene, without turning it into an anniversary retrospective. The exhibition does not bear a conceptual title – it offers pure painting, focused on the expressive possibilities of color, space and texture.
Georgiev presents canvases in which at first glance abstraction dominates, but fragments of reality unfold under the layers of the pictorial matter – architectural silhouettes, landscape elements, traces of movement and time. The compositions are built by interweaving linear, aerial and reverse perspective, which creates a multilayered visual field. This space does not describe a specific place, but creates a state – a boundary between the real and the inner.
Silence, tension and rhythm are felt in the works – the result of precisely balanced relationships between form and color. The lack of narrative leaves the viewer to create their own connection with the images that appear and blur across the surface of the canvas.
Regardless of the form – large-format canvases or chamber compositions – Georgiev’s painting brings a sense of integrity and monumentality. The exhibition is a return to the essence of painting – not as an illustration or a narrative, but as a field for visual thinking and plastic intensity.
