Exhibition “Painting” by Grisha Kubratov within the framework of the “March Music Days” International Festival

Grisha Kubratov is one of the cheerful artists from Ruse who “make music” with colors. You wouldn’t notice it from the outside. But when you see his works together, when you feel the rhythm of harmonies, of pure color tones, of people as instruments, of swirling forms, cubes, and volumes that dance, merge into one another, flow out, and reform—but now differently—you realize that this “musicality” relies on the eye but composes abstractly, on a musical principle.

Even in the more figurative works such as Muse, The Singing Tree, Moon and Sun in an Endless Theatre, Back in Jazz, Spring Mood, Grisha’s approach is evident. The musical articulations and dynamics of his works affect all the senses—glissando, legato, marcato and portato, piano, forte, and the intimate pianissimo seem valid for these pieces as well.

Beyond being an artist and a music lover, it turns out that Grisha Kubratov is genetically connected to music. He dedicates this exhibition to his grandfather, Yanko Dimitrov Arapchev, one of the founders of the Ruse Philharmonic.

Thank you, Grisha Kubratov, for painting these new works especially for the Festival! I wish him continued success, and I wish the Festival a great and prosperous journey!
