The exhibition-competition for contemporary visual arts "ConTempo" is held annually within the framework of the International Festival "March Music Days" in Ruse. The organizers of the event are the Municipality of Ruse, the Union of Bulgarian Artists - Sofia and the Art Gallery - Ruse. The theme of this year's edition is "ConTempo", focused on contemporary trends in art.
In 2025, the competition attracted 124 artists from all over the country, from which a jury consisting of Teodor Liho (representative of the Union of Bulgarian Artists), Iva Chavdarova (artistic director of the MF "March Music Days") and Eslitsa Popova (director of the Art Gallery - Ruse) selected 87 participants with a total of 140 works in the fields of painting, graphics, sculpture and photography.
The official opening of the exhibition took place on March 15, 2025. at the Art Gallery – Ruse, where the awarded authors were also announced. The Art Gallery – Ruse award was awarded to Valentin Uzunov for his work “Musicians of the Seine IV”. The Ruse Municipality – MF “March Music Days” award went to Lyubima Bardarova for “Allegro Vivace II”, and the Union of Bulgarian Artists award went to Dimitar Minkov, “Concerto for Four Violins”.
The “ConTempo” exhibition provides a platform for the expression of contemporary Bulgarian artists, stimulating their creative development and popularizing contemporary visual art among the public. Through the variety of works presented, the event reflects current trends and innovations in Bulgarian art.
