Artists from Pleven- Art Outhside the Capital

Art Gallery - Ruse opened the large-scale exhibition “Contemporary Artists from Pleven” – an ambitious and representative showcase of the artistic spirit of Pleven and the surrounding region. The exhibition brings together the work of 55 artists, presenting a wide spectrum of styles, media, and artistic generations: painting, graphics, sculpture, and textile.

The event is jointly organized by Pleven Municipality, Ruse Municipality, Ruse Art Gallery, the Pleven branch of the Union of Bulgarian Artists, and the Association of Pleven Artists. More than just a gesture of cultural exchange between cities, the exhibition is a conscious act of sustaining vibrant regional art scenes outside the capital.

The show reveals stylistic and genre diversity – from realistic landscapes and figurative compositions to expressive abstraction and monumental sculpture. Graphic works and textile pieces add further nuance and poetic depth. The exhibition features both established names such as Nikolay Nedelchev – Kokala, Ivan Velchev – Yovo, and Iliyan Angelov, alongside emerging voices from the younger generation.

Artistically, “Contemporary Artists from Pleven” serves as a snapshot of a dynamic and steadily evolving scene – one that bridges tradition with contemporary exploration. Socially, the exhibition acts as a platform for dialogue – between generations, between cities, and between artists and the public.

The Pleven art community is known for its cohesion, continuity, and distinct visual identity. In this sense, the exhibition is not simply a presentation of works – it is a glimpse into a resilient and independent artistic world, with its own memory, rhythm, and creative energy.

The exhibition will remain on view until August 3, 2025=
