The exhibition “(In)visible Shift” brings together two artistic practices that explore, in different ways, the processes of perception and its limits. Rather than opposing the visible and the invisible as separate states, the exhibition focuses on the transitions between them—on those nearly imperceptible moments when attention shifts and meaning gradually unfolds.

Over the past twenty-five years, Claudia-Maria Luenig and Elena Panayotova have developed an intensive professional collaboration as artists and curators. The exhibition in Ruse presents their works within a shared space, where different artistic approaches meet in a common interest in perception, presence, and that which remains beyond immediate sight.

Drawing lies at the core of Claudia-Maria Luenig’s practice. The line becomes a trace, a structure, and a spatial form through which the artist explores the relationships between the body, personal space, and the social environment. Her works create subtle transitions between drawing, object, and space, between presence and absence.

Elena Panayotova’s practice unfolds between drawing, painting, and object. In her works, the image is never fully closed or final. Part of its meaning remains beyond immediate visibility, preserving space for the viewer’s imagination and personal experience. Fragment, absence, and the unspoken become means of pointing toward what is not entirely revealed.

Placed in dialogue, the works of the two artists outline a field of continuous shifting—between clarity and ambiguity, between visible and invisible, between what we see and what is only beginning to emerge.
